Kevin Durant may be with the Golden State Warriors now but he still keeps his connections back in Oklahoma City, his former adopted home for the past 8 Years. The All-Star Forward recently donated $57,000 to Positive Tomorrows, an Oklahoma City elementary school for homeless children, though Durant’s charity foundation. The school announced that thhe gift unlocked an anonymous $50,000 challenge grant that will allow Positive Tomorrows to purchase land for a new facility.
The private, tuition-free school also stated that Oklahoma City boasts nearly 8,000 homeless students grades K-12, and Positive Tomorrows is the state’s only elementary school specifically serving homeless children and their families.
This is the fourth straight year Durant has donated to the school. Last year, his $35,000 gift helped Positive Tomorrows stock food and build a kitchen. Durant’s dedication to helping the homeless is very close to him. He had a rough upbringing of needing to move from place to place and having very few clothes has kept him involved in helping those in need. Talk about giving back.
