Music is the universal language of the world. However it can be divided into different genres in many different ways. The artistic nature of music means that these classifications are often subjective and controversial, and many genres overlap.

MIC: MUSIC IN THE CITY explores various musical genres and their origins in cities around the world. The series will highlight the personal stories of the musicians, singers, and producers who have influenced and been influenced by these genres. The series will also feature music executives and industry experts for commentary and perspective on some of the biggest trends and moments in music.

Episodes will take viewers to major U.S cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Chicago New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Miami, but also travel to international destinations that include London, Seoul, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic.

The series is executive produced by Cary Grant, Lathan Hodge, Paul Eckstein, Aldo Jovan Diaz, Mar Guerin, Esteban Martin, and co-produced by Mar Guerin and Martin and Zahrah Farmer. Narration is by Hip- Hop Icon Chuck D of Public Enemy who is also a co-producer.

The series kicks off production in March 2021 and will air season 1 this Fall 2021.
