Marvel Studios "Luke Cage" will not be returning to Netflix for its 3rd season, it was announced last week by the streaming giant.
After what seemed like 2 successful seasons of the powerful action drama, the series became another casualty, just on the heels of the cancellation of "Iron Fist".
According to a story in Variety, a source stated that talks for a third season had taken place, but that Netflix ultimately decided that one would not be feasible.
“Luke Cage” was part of a five-series deal between Marvel and Netflix for a group of interconnected shows — “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” and “Defenders.” “The Punisher,” was also later added to the mix.
Hopefully the series will be revived by Disney which owns Marvel, or another network. The show was critically acclaimed for its diverse cast, strong writing and portrayal of Black men and women in lead roles. It had a super-talented cast including Mike Colter, Rosario Dawson, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, Simone Missick, and Theo Rossi.
