Solange Knowles will be the second Black woman and third woman ever to have work commissioned by the NYC Ballet. She will debut at the Fall Fashion Gala on September 28, 2022 and will feature members from Solange’s own ensemble.
In a tweet Solange said, “she was “very excited” about the production. Following its September premiere, the piece will also be performed over ten dates in October 2022 and May 2023.” The ballet will be choreographed by Gianna Reisen, 23, who started with the company at age 18.
